St John Kidmore End

Though I have had this church on my list to visit it was more of a fill in visit to finish off the churches around the area I live. Cannot find much history on the church other that it was built in 1852 no doubt built fro the wealthy people who lived in that area. The church itself was locked on the occasion of my visit & though I left a message to ask about the key on the vicars answerphone with my number I have had no reply. One of my fellow church crawlers tells me it is always locked.

Entrance is through these gates

after which you can walk around the churchyard

The West end of the church

Around the East end and apse

The porch which on my visit was locked

After coming in the gates look to your left and you see part of the churchyard

Above a broken headstone

another marker, unusual to see more than one

At the front of the church near the road is the Village War Memorial

Till next time I will leave you with a last view of  St Johns.
